1975 Telecaster Deluxe

The 1975 Fender Telecaster Deluxe has always been the only electric guitar for me. My first guitar was actually a Fender Bronco. Similar to a Mustang, but cheaper and jet black. I got that in 1978, played it for a year, then got a 1975 Fender Telecaster Deluxe that has been my one and only electric guitar ever since 1979 when I was 12 years old.

The pictures you see here are not my guitar but another 1975 Tele Deluxe. Mine is in much rougher condition compared to the one you see in these photos. Over the years I have owned other guitars, usually variations on the Telecaster. I briefly had a Les Paul that was just too heavy. I tinkered with an SG but the action was too high. Strings seemed like they were a mile off the fretboard.

The Tele Deluxe is basically a Telecaster body with a Stratocaster neck and two humbucker pickups not found in either the standard issue Telecaster or Strat. The pickups are hot as fire and their sound has been compared to that of a Les Paul. The Tele Deluxe ruined me for other guitars when I was still a teenager. I've never been comfortable with another electric guitar. I used to have two but I sold one of them. Wish I had hung on to that but it was already chopped up with a lot of replacement parts and weird paint jobs.

When I go, please bury me with mine.

Beautiful and you make it sound so good. Always wanted a telecaster and finally got me one too at the beginning of pandemic (albeit just a Squier Thinline). There's just something about Telecasters iconic looks, ways in which they feel in the hands, and sounds they make when played (especially the way you play Ric). Mine's got dual humbuckers too and wish it had a coil tap switch...cool regardless.
