Always Is Never : And Back Again

You as a teenager. You will always be that person and you will never be that person again.
It's like a story you started writing when you were bedridden with the flu, dragged down by your symptoms and heavy medicine head. How do you pick up the string and proceed without losing the plot after you have fully recovered from your youth?
There's an old Buddhist expression that says you can never stick your toe in the same river twice.
A snapshot from your vacation is not your vacation. Though it may call up strong feelings about the experience and make you feel as if you are there in that time and place again. But even the most eloquent description of an emotional experience is not the experience itself.
The Buddha said, "I am a finger pointing at the moon. Don't look at me. Look at the moon."
Your voice is not your thoughts. Your thoughts are not your brain. Your brain is not who you are.
