SOUNDS Record Store in St. Mark's Place - 1995

In the summer of 1995, I worked at a record store called Sounds in Greenwich Village. One of my co-workers was a classic New York City old school Bob Dylan fanatic who had traveled all over the country following Dylan. Mike Cohen was his name and it turned out we had both been at Dylan’s Ohio State Fair appearance the previous August. My wife Michelle was at that same concert too, eighteen years before she and I met. There was a basement bar downstairs under the Sounds storefront. After work we’d go there and drink Sapporo from the giant silver cans and talk about Dylan and this new band called Wilco that apparently was some of the guys from Uncle Tupelo. Regular customers at that store when I worked there included Ellen Cleghorn from SNL, the late Jeff Buckley, and Jon Stewart who we saw once a week. Super nice guy. He would actually hang out and talk quite a lot.
